Migrating to Sphinx will also make generating the documentation from source easier, which is something Debian likes its packages to do (i.e. Debian packages should build from source). Once this is done we should let the Debian package maintainers know so they can address https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=732148.
