A lot of the calculations being done are mostly handed off to the client. So... depending on the user's computer, the map can take anywhere from 1 to 10 seconds to load (the first time). Any subsequent times, the map is cached.
A lot of these calculations can be pre-processed. More work needs to be done to optimize and decrease load times of graph.
