GSoC Report for Week of 7/21 #8

I’m excited to have made progress on the second visualization we discussed regarding data rescue locations. My main focus this week was to get the Airtable API working and figure out how to create choropleth D3 visualizations. I learned a lot about cartography and how complex map visualizations are depending on the style you use and the tradeoff between each vis.

I worked on the following issues:

Visualizing Maps in D3. Learning the Airtable API. Figuring out the best visualization for this information.

In addition, I reviewed code/commented on issues/learned about X/etc.

Finally, I’m concerned about these upcoming or outstanding issues, which may block progress or impose design constraints: just wanted to get a few things answered before I submit the final visualization. This one was pretty easy, but I have some really essential design questions before I can complete it. I mostly posted it on my slack channel (gsoc-datavis), but they are related to gaps and modifying the actual events table to make it work.

Thanks for the update @Blackglade -- I'll review the events table and post an update to #gsoc-dataviz, but also maybe it might be faster to chat!
