What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. get a reality bubble
2. get high CPU elsewhere
3. start researching apotheosis
4. lose bubble (discovered)

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
I would expect the research to stop but it continues at the same rate.

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
latest git on Linux Mint 13 with kernel 3.5
