The Financial Industry Business Ontology (FIBO) defines the sets of things that are of interest in financial business applications and the ways that those things can relate to one another. In this way, FIBO can give meaning to any data (e.g., spreadsheets, relational databases, XML documents) that describe the business of finance.
The NAIC (National Association of Insurance Commisioners) Capital Markets Bureau publishes primers on various kinds of instruments that an insurance company might invest in or participate in in some fashion. Their document, likely published in late 2019 or early 2020, on ABS includes a number of well-thought out definitions and additional information relevant to our ABS ontology. We should include at least some of that detail in the ABS ontology, or in a related auto loan/lease ontology or other higher-level ontology as appropriate.
