The Financial Industry Business Ontology (FIBO) defines the sets of things that are of interest in financial business applications and the ways that those things can relate to one another. In this way, FIBO can give meaning to any data (e.g., spreadsheets, relational databases, XML documents) that describe the business of finance.

Description

  1. Initial pass to revise a few existing institutions and add new ones for greater coverage of the various kinds of financial institutions and other functional entities and branches delineated in the NIC repository (e.g., subclasses of agreement/edge corporation)
  2. Augmented institutions to include coverage of foreign entities from a US perspective and added preliminary entity type codes (partial list)
  3. Added additional institutions and revised the representation of state-member and non-member banks to be more in line with the definitions from the FFIEC
  4. Completed the controlled vocabulary (mapping to entities will be completed in Q2 under a different issue)

Fixes: #1850 / FBC-304
