Typos: gonig -> going, better-aquainted -> better-acquainted. I think "concerned of" --> "concerned about", too, but that seems like more of a stylistic choice.
I'm not sure how ubiquitous transfer functions are in physics. I haven't seen many Laplace transforms in the theoretical physics books I have. But I'd agree that transfer functions run the EE world.
We need some section headers here. Probably one header for the filtering/modulation section and one header for when we talk about continuous vs. discrete-time signals should do it. Just to break up the text a little.
I think this as a whole could be made (a little) shorter. I'm hesitant to suggest cutting too much, but I think maybe we could cut it off right after talking about transfer functions. That's basically what Signals and Systems is all about.
Filters, Nyquist's Theorem, and discretization of s-domain calculations are cool consequences; I'd argue they're not quite fundamental enough to put right in the introduction.
