Hey Orwellian, I saw that you pened this PR and then closed. Are you interested in auth? I'm trying to figure out how to support that. Do you think this PR could still help? I could reopen, thx.

Hey, I am definitely interested in auth and I'm working with a dev to build it. We hope to make some progress by the end of the week. (The above code was just a hack-y attempt, won't be useful)

User Level auth and Oauth are important to us:

It is the final component of a SaaS project we are working on, we can collaborate on the auth part if you are open to it!
