while segmenting ram spins up to 95% and stays there even when not segmenting, until VC is closed.
while segmenting swap continues to fill, up to about 8G, and does not empty when VC closes.

Also reported that this happens with vc_render which implies some issue with Volume and the cache memory limit.

vc_render_from_ppm reports:

Volume Cache :: Capacity: 138 || Size: 31GB
