@fkooman: Can you please check if this works as expected in eduVPN / Let's Connect v3.0.0 or later?

Am testing this now using vpn-next.tuxed.net "Excl. Routes" profile and it seems to work! Cool! For OpenVPN at least. Not for WireGuard, but that is out of scope for this issue.

App version: Version 3.0.2 (1735)
