You could say that this is a case of "there is no such thing as a free lunch": if you want to enjoy for free what the digital world has to offer, you should expect there to be costs. But what about the case of costs exceeding benefits? We now have the much needed General Data Protection Regulations which protects data subjects. Privacy rights are also enshrined in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, European Convention of Human Rights and Charter of Fundamental Rights in the European Union. It would be great if more articles like yours were published to make data subjects aware of what's at stake. In todays fast moving world I am not sure anyone takes the time to stop and think it through.
