At their most basic level, groups are just a thing you join for a status symbol (perhaps like dA's stamps) and to collect similar art not well captured by tags. At a more complex level, groups can be little communities with their own goals and themes and whatevers. PMD Explorers is an obvious example, and has revealed a lot of places where dA's group implementation kinda sucks. If we could make that kind of group super easy to use, we would be in a pretty great place.
