My recommendations:
Sights: First, let's make all weapons have around a 1.25x zoom with iron sights and non-magnifying optics (64 degrees). Other sights would have the zoom set by their real life counter part (ACOG 4x would have a 4x magnification, 20 degrees for zoom). The sights I recommend would be an Aimpoint (M68 comes to mind), a Reflex (Trijicon's for example), Holo sight (EOTech's for instance) and a ACOG (Trijicon for the win).
Underbarrel: I recommend the nexts: None, Flashlight (Allows to see in the dark), Foregrip (Lower recoil and crosshair expansion, slight reduction in accuracy), Angled Foregrip (Slight increase in accuracy, very slight reduction in recoil), Foregrip + Flashlight, Laser (Could be used for intimidation against low level suspects and civilians, slighty increases accuracy and recovery. Alternatively, shows the round impact point. Obviously can be seen by suspects), Masterkey (Underbarrel shotgun, could be loaded with any shotgun shell, can only be attached to certain weapons), Grenade Launcher (Underbarrel GL, loads any type of grenade, only certain weapons can use it), Taser (See Grenade Launcher please). Underbarrel GLs, Masterkeys and Tasers slighty lower accuracy and increase recoil, because it is harder to stabilize the weapon.
Muzzle: I recommend the next: None, Compensator (Reduces vertical recoil), Flash Hider (Reduces muzzle flash, can't think of anything else), Suppressor (Lower recoil, slighty lowers accuracy due to longer, heavier weapons without longer barrel lenght (suppressor doesn't exactly extend the barrel lenght), reduces AI range of hearing and range of hearing in general, AI can't detect the sound as a gunshot, makes the weapon switch to subsonic ammuntion if possible)
Stock: Default should be based on weapon design. I recommend: Solid (Solid firing platform, equals lower recoil and higher accuracy, but slowest recovery). Collapsible (Relatively solid platform, good recoil and good accuracy, decent recover, this is when extended. When collapsed, higher recoil, lower accuracy, awesome recovery) Folding (For those that can't take collapsible, pretty much the same as collapsible). None (Like collapsed Collapsible or folded Folding. Just worse recoil and accuracy, but incredible recovery). It shouldn't alter firing sound BTW.
Caliber: As long as it makes sense (If we had an USP9, turning it into a USP40 or USP45, or USP.357 would be fine. USP 10mm, no) I'm fine.
Ammo Type: Read Eez's comment upthere.
I've sorta been hinting at this for a while, and I think it's time that I tackled this head-on with an issue discussing all of the ideas I have for the attachment system.
If a weapon supports the new attachment system (not all of them will, right out of the gate), the ammo selector will be replaced with a series of comboboxes, which all have a small icon to signify what they modify:
Sights: Modify the weapon's weight, bulk, iron sights position, scope mask, and/or zoom ratio. Options include: Iron Sights (the default), Red Dot Sight, Scope, and other sight types, to be created by the artists.
Underbarrel: Modifies the weapon's weight, bulk, flashlight option, and available firing modes. Options include: Flashlight (the default), None, Underbarrel Taser, Underbarrel Shotgun, Underbarrel CS Gas, and other options, to be created by the artists.
Muzzle: Modifies the weapon's weight, bulk, aimerror recovery, recoil and firing sound. Options include: None (the default) and Suppressor.
Stock: Modifies the weapon's weight, bulk, aimerror recovery, recoil and firing sound. Options include: Collapsible Stock (the default), None, and Full Stock.
Caliber: Modifies the weapon's caliber. Options vary based on the type of weapon. For example, the UMP.45 has the option UMP.40. Modifies the weight, bulk, aimerror recovery, recoil, firing speed, magazine size, and ammo options.
Ammo Type: Same as the original ammo options.
