Huh, I'd never heard of that one. Sounds fine by me, though I've no idea when I'll get to that :).
NUT uses a client-server architecture which allows a NUT instance connected to a UPS to e.g. inform other NUT-clients about a power-outage to allow them to shut down in time. It's widely used with desktop UPSes and in data-centers as it is packaged with any Linux-distribution. It has a web-interface, too. ;-)
I created an issue in the NUT Github repository.
Sounds like a fun project, but unfortunately needs someone with hardware to step up and implement and test it. So far nobody picked it up, and the links in original NUT issue went defunct...
Please add support for integrating the Pico UPS into NUT
