`make precheck` not repeatable #295

Rerunning make precheck produces the following error:

fatal: destination path '/home/karim/mpw_precheck' already exists and is not an empty directory.
make: *** [Makefile:233: precheck] Error 128

System info:

git version 2.34.1
Ubuntu 22.04.1 LTS
