The Backstage Software Catalog is a centralized system that keeps track of ownership and metadata for all the software in your ecosystem (services, websites, libraries, data pipelines, etc). The catalog is built around the concept of metadata YAML files stored together with the code, which are then harvested and visualized in Backstage. https://backstage.io/

I have 0 experience with Backstage or any alternative Internal Developer Platforms (IDPs).

For me, the goal would be to form an opinion the following subjects:

Backstage overall as a product (with pros and cons)
When to use it (what use case scenarios can justify the use of Backstage)
What are the alternatives (simple comparison of the difference in functionalities)
