Move old tests into tests/deprecated #9

tests/ contains a bunch of stuff that Chris Lee says isn't used any more --
now that we have cast off the shackles of CVS, let's move that into
tests/deprecated/ or something.

moved deprecated tests to tests/old, pushed to git repository.
If you prefer the directory to be called tests/deprecated, we can change the 
name if
you want.
