“Violation of these assumptions may result in biased parameter estimates and type I errors (Quinn & Keough 2002). To validate the fitted models, standardized or Pearson residuals must be plotted against fitted values, against each covariate in the model, against each covariate not in the model and against time and space coordinates, if relevant (Zuur et al. 2009).
