Turning ON/OF plugin, doesn't turns the device off #7

It seems working in the logs, but in reality, the device doesn't react.

Could You please send me more details? Device type, config parameters, logs (in debug mode if it is possible), what and how did You do, ... In general turning on and off the device from home app works well.

Sure, here are the details. So i bought 2 Gree GEH12AA-K6DNA1A. I set up both in GREE+ to get the mac address (i can control them on GREE+ with no issue). Than i added both device in the GREE Air Conditioner homebridge plugin. Both device found, they are shown in homebridge accessories and apple homekit too. The problem is, my devices status on the homebridge/homekit is OFF, but the ac is turned on and operating on 27 celsius for example. When i attempt to 'turn on' the device from homekit/homebridge or change temperature, everything looks working but in reality, the device doesn't do anything. Dont turn on/off or change temperature.

It seems that homebridge and the AC units are not communicating with each other. Homebridge sends commands to AC units but no response arrives. Please try to reconfigure the plugin. First increase scan timeout to 15 seconds (maybe sending init command every 3 seconds is too fast). Second remove both AC units (set them to disabled and restart homebridge). Finally enable only one device (e.g. Botond szoba gree klíma), restart homebridge in debug mode, and test the unit. If there are any problems, please send me debug log where new device registration and all test communication is visible in the log. If all work well you can safely enable the second unit (restarting still in debug mode). Turn off debug mode if both devices work well.

This is an internet connection problem between your homebridge server and the software distribution repository. It is independent from this plugin. Homebridge UI is responsible for update cheking.

I have published a new version of the plugin. Please disable all AC units in Homebridge and install the latest version of the plugin. Do not forget to upgrade your Homebridge version to v1.8.0 first if you are using an older version. Please remove power from the AC units, wait a minute and restore power. (Unplug the power cord or turn off central power switch if AC units are using fixed electrical wiring. Sometimes there is an internal problem inside the AC unit which prevent correct communication with Homebridge. This can be solved by resetting the AC unit with removing the power.) Wait a minute after power restore to be sure that the AC units are re-connected to the Wifi network again. After you have restored AC unit's power you can re-enable the units in Homebridge. I hope that after the final Homebridge restart all will be functioning well. If the problem still persist please repeat the steps I have suggested before and generate new debug log for me. I have improved debug logging in the latest version of the plugin.

Having a very similar issue - attaching my debug logs. I even did the power remove steps you recommended, but nothing changed. Clearly the device is found, I checked in terminal and I can ping it, but the commands are not handled by the AC. homebridge.log

I have checked your logs. I confirm that the issue is very similar. And also you have the same firmware version.

GREE AC units network communication requires the following steps:

  1. Homebridge sends a broadcast package to all devices on the subnet and asks for parameters
  2. All GREE device on the subnet respond to this message and tells self parameters
  3. Homebridge sends a bind request to all devices which have responded to the first message and are enabled in the homebridge configuration (this is a dedicated unicast package sent to the actual IP address of the device)
  4. GREE device responds to the bind request and confirms connection to Homebridge
  5. After successful binding Homebridge and GREE AC unit can communicate with each other

Unfortunately in your case only the first 3 steps are successful. The AC unit receives the first query message and tells self parameters. Homebridge sends the bind request but bind confirmation do never arrive to homebridge. Your AC unit do not bind with Homebridge. (Without successful binding Homebridge can send control commands to the AC unit but it won't do anything.) Sorry but I do not know why is binding unsuccessful. Something prevents the AC unit from binding. Maybe it is bound to another application which prevent binding to Homebridge. I see that you have set the scan timeout to 10 seconds. It means that Homebridge sends the broadcast package every 10 seconds. It is possible that your AC unit is slow and it receives the first message again before responding to the bind request. You can try to increase the scan timeout to allow more time to respond to the bind request. If it does not help please reset the network configuration of your AC unit, reconnect it to the WiFi network and try to bind to the unit again. You can also try to change the port from 7002 to any free port above 1024. Finally you can check for firmware upgrade using the GREE+ app.

Thank you!Your V1.2.0 units work well but the V2.0.0 unit does not answer the bind request. All devices with similar problem are V2.0.0 devices. I think GREE has changed the network protocol in V2.0.0. I will try to figure it out but it takes a lot of time and I can’t promise success. Looks like the firmware v.1.21 changed the encryption method. It has been implemented here: https://github.com/RobHofmann/HomeAssistant-GreeClimateComponent/pull/165/files
