Hello!

When trying remuco on my friends Sony Ericsson Z530i, everything works like
a charm. But, and this is really anoying, when doing the same with my Nokia
5500, the stupid phone wont recognize the Remuco server running on my
computer (Ubuntu 8.04). Just keeps saying that it cannot detect any running
Remuco service. Tried to see if the message was due to connection problems,
but not. The thing is the phone actually connects to my computer and tries
to see if anything close to Remuco-server is running. But somewhere along
the way a big "No-no" seems to appear. Guess it's on my Nokia that things
messes up. Know that it's really sensitive to security-related things, such
as installing unsigned software and so.

So, my question is simply. How do I make my (even-worse-than-Vista)
security conscious phone do something it's not obviously allowed to do? Any
tips from you guys out there who may have gotten your grumpy S60v3 phones
to play with Remuco?

Thankful for any suggestion that might fix it! (or, getting me to throw the
phone on my friends, just to see which one is really the better one)

To clearify myself, these are the steps when I manage to get the Z530i to
connect (and my 5500 to be grumpy).
1. Turn on bluetooth (both dongle in computer and bluetooth activated on phone)
2. Start the Remuco application (ofcourse Remuco-server is running when, in
my case, Rhythmbox starts)
3. Scan (in Remuco application on phone)
4. Found my computer
5. (try to) Connect to my computer
6a. Everything fine and working on friends Z530i
6b. MY Nokia 5500 says "Connection Error No ServerFound no Remuco service
on the selected device"

Thanks in advance!

Hello,

I have a problem similar to that described by the poster above. My phone is
a Nokia e51, running S60 3rd Edition Feature pack 1. I've installed the
Remuco client on the phone (version 0.07), install proceeds without any
problem. The server (version 0.7.1) is installed on my computer (which is
running Ubuntu 8.04). The computer and the phone are paired, and I can
transfer files between the two without any problem. The server is running,
and the client on the phone sees the computer in the scan, however,
attempting to connect results in a Connection Error: "No ServerFound no
Remuco service on the selected device". Note that if I have the bluetooth
manager open when I attempt to connect from the phone, the manager
indicates that activity, however, the client is not successfully finding
the server. Please let me know what further information would be helpful.
Thanks for any help!

Concerning the last post (2008-07-11 18:37):

Please check if inquiry and page scan are enabled on your computer. When
running hciconfig, there should be a line containing 'UP RUNNING PSCAN ISCAN'.

Concerning all previous posts:

Unfortunately I cannot give you much support, since I do not have access to
the phones you are using. However, there is an updated client version in
SVN
(https://remuco.svn.sourceforge.net/svnroot/remuco/trunk/client/snapshot/)
which has some minor issues fixed. Please retry with this version ..

I have the same problem on my E61i (S60v3) with the SVN client and,
compiled and installed remco-server on Ubuntu 8.04. Get the "No ServerFound
no Remuco service on the selected device". Tried to add manually, but get
the same result. This error does however not appear when I use WiFi, so
this is a purely bluetooth problem. When running hciconfig, there is a
line containing 'UP RUNNING PSCAN ISCAN', so that's not the problem.

Oh, quite old thread :)

Users reported similar problems in the more recent thread
http://sourceforge.net/forum/forum.php?thread_id=2186436&forum_id=568227
which is also about Nokia phones. Near the end of this thread you'll find a
download link to a tarball which contains test versions of the Remuco
client which have small differences in the service search. Please let me
know if one of the test clients work for you (or not).
