WebOS client or basic web server client to support other web based phones such as iPhone, Blackberry, Palm Pre/Pixi, etc #35

What feature or enhancement would you like to see in Remuco?

It would be nice if I could utilize this from non Java phones. Most
Smartphones are web capable, so if the remuco 'server' could server up
basic mobile phone optimized web pages, then other phones such as the Palm
Pre, iPhone, Android, Blackberry, etc could all just browse to the IP/port
of the remuco server and do their remote control there.

Please describe a use case that motivates this feature:

A much larger base of mobile phones supported.

Totally agree! I don't plan to do this myself because a lack of time and because
there are other guys doing a better job in web interface development than me.
Anyone
willing to contribute here?

As soon as I have time, I'll set up a starting base to implement this. Once
done I
hope someone finally is willing to work on this.

I can probably contribute to this, eventually.
Are you people still interested?

Some 2 month ago I started to work on a base for such a web client. Base means a
module in the remuco package which receives player information and may call
player
adapter methods. But without all the web stuff.

This reminds me I should finish this so you could work on this.

But first let's see if jeremy has some input here.

I just stumbled upon that idea...

Yes, it's a very good idea, even more so because the smartphone area is a
moving target, and a lot of very good plateforms are beeing created every year.
take MeeGo for exemple. In a couple of years, it might be something worth of
its own port of remuco, but a web interface might just do the trick nicely.

Would be good to include both a finger-friendly interface and a normal
smartphone interface as well (i.e., without a touch screen).
