This pull request is inexcusable and should probably either be rejected or used as a case study on how not to fix a problem. But... it does at least fix the problem.

Yep -it's nasty but I'm not motivated to dig into a better way as this extension is only semi-maintained - the api validate action should be used here & should be fixed to work - but then again we should also switch to api v4....
