Check for updates should be optional. #531

There should be an option like "Check for updates automatically?" which you
could turn off.

Why?

1) I've installed a forwarder wad but every time there is a new update (which
seems to be quite frequent) I have to install a new one. I thought forwarders
were supposed to point to the boot dol on the sd card which should be replaced
during an update but for some reason it never works so I have to find and
install a new one for the latest version.

2) I've never experienced a problem with any of Tantric's emulators so I feel
no need to update it all the time. Plus, with some of the updates, old save
states no longer work and I want to keep them operational.

I find it annoying that every time I boot up an emulator, I get that update
dialogue box and have to click "Update later". This is especially a problem
when there is a delay in connecting to the net so I click on a rom at the exact
same time the dialogue box pops up (this happens more frequently than you might
expect) which freezes the system and I have to power cycle.

Thanks for listening!

I'm on a forwarder myself, and updates are fine for me. Make sure you have the
emulator's boot.dol in the folder path specified by the forwarder, or try to
look for a new one if there's a problem with the one you're using. I could also
send you the one I have, if you'd like.

I hear you, but it's my project and I've chosen to force updates. Sorry, not
going to change that.

But you're not forcing updates- I can still choose not to. You're only making
it more annoying and I don't see why that's necessary.
