Uninstalling makes windows corrupted #36

This is really distressing. After uninstalling SAR (SynchronousAudioRouter_x64_0_13_debug_20170417.zip) the windows system is corrupted and now I can't press the start button or switch between windows with alt-tab. The problem is related to ShellExperienceHost.exe.

Reinstalling the newer version(0.13) does not solve. The only way I can use my windows is logging out from an account and then log in to another account to use it. I have searched the internet for the solution but most of them are obsolete now since the fall creators update.

Or the last resort is going back to the last restore point. I have experimented multiple times to make sure uninstalling SAR is the real cause, going back and forth between restore points.

this is not to do with SAR. this is a bug in fall creator update. i have the same thing happen, as many other people on win 10 1709. restarting the computer can get the menu working g again, but is not permenant fix. google search "fall creator update can't open start menu"

Thank you for you info. After I posted the issue, I figured out a potential solution. https://www.reddit.com/r/Windows10/comments/7eajct/it_may_fix_the_issue_of_start_menu_not_working/

I will experiment some more to make it sure if the problem is eliminated.

It seems like the problem is no more happening. After windows fall creator update, installing/uninstalling some specific applications(including SAR) might cause a problem with ShellExperienceHost and you can avoid this if you uncheck "Use my sign-in info to automatically finish setting up my device after an update or restart" option in the settings window.

Jesus, that's bad. Do you have any steps to reproduce? I have uninstalled SAR a lot of times without any issues, but maybe not with the latest Windows updates. SAR doesn't make any permanent changes when installed, so uninstalling it shouldn't cause any issues.

I think it is settled down now. I can confirm the problem is gone. I think it would be safe to leave this information here for the users who updated to the Fall Creator's Update 1709 and having a similar symptom.

I have been trying to figure out another potential issue and needed to remove SAR during testing. I encountered no issues in Windows

I think the problem here is that you're using windows 10 :^)
