Interesting Article from Cedric: https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S0190740916303139
This article (from my sosc class) includes some discussion of intermarriage between different ethnic groups and different religious groups: How 4.5 Million Irish Immigrants Became 40 Million Irish Americans: Demographic andSubjective Aspects of the Ethnic Composition of White AmericansAuthor(s): Michael Hout and Joshua R. GoldsteinSource: American Sociological Review, Vol. 59, No. 1 (Feb., 1994), pp. 64-82Published by: American Sociological AssociationStable URL: https://www.jstor.org/stable/2096133
Here is an article that I found helpful for the first topic: https://link.springer.com/article/10.1007/s11150-007-9023-0
https://papers.ssrn.com/sol3/papers.cfm?abstract_id=2931940 data collection may be difficult, but the paper topic is interesting.
The authors examine gender discrimination in the financial advisory industry by looking at punishments for misconduct across genders and find that females are punished more severely (ie fired) for less serious cases.
I like the interracial marriage rates idea a lot. Something else to maybe consider: https://www.nber.org/papers/w24181 This shows that rent control in San Fransisco decreased the housing supply, but it also increased the likelihood (by 20%) that renters would stay in their current housing. Maybe we could look at whether this presumed increase in certainty about the future affected the likelihood people have kids in rent controlled areas (if they are able to continue renting in the same place vs. if their housing is eliminated bc the landlord decides to convert the property to something w/o a price ceiling, etc.).
