process com.nethackff stopped unexpectedly on startup #43

Closed GoogleCodeExporter closed 8 years ago

GoogleCodeExporter commented 8 years ago
What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. process com.nethackff stopped unexpectedly on startup every time
2. I have uninstalled and reinstalled
3.

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
Game should start, I see Please wait, initializing... at the top of the
screen, a white cursor below that line, and then the Android pop up tells
me of the force close.

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
Current version available on the market as of 03/22/2010. Running on a G1
with Firmware 1.6 CynogenMod 4.2.15.1 (current version).

Please provide any additional information below.
Doubt this matters, as this is not a 3d game by any means, but I done the
10mb memory hack that borrows 10mb of memory from the GPU to be used for
general phone process.

I get the same issue on my Motorola Droid running CyanogenMod 5.0.5.7, and from
the app
comments it looks like a lot of Nexus One users are having the same problem.

Pretty sure that in this case, this is an issue with the application under
CyanogenMod. A stock Nexus One should definitely work, and is what I use
myself. I hope to address it in the future, but haven't had time to set up CM
myself and dig into it. I think there may be at least two issues: 1. some
commands that the application expect in /system/bin are not there under CM, and
2. if you run apps from the SD card, I'm not sure that the assumptions about
the path to the app data will hold up.

I'm attaching a logcat of what happens when I launch it. Not sure if it'll help
or not.

Thanks for the log.

Those of you who had this problem before, can you please help out by
downloading this new version:
http://nethack-android.googlecode.com/files/NetHack-1.2.2-alpha.apk
I'm hoping that it will fix crashes on startup, by not relying on external
commands (chmod, mkdir) and by more properly obtaining the path to the
application's files. Please report back here with the results. Even if you
didn't have this crash before, I would be interested in knowing that the new
version works, so I don't introduce any new problem.

i emailed you back; however, i had some crazy screen redraw bugs, if i can

Closing this, sounds like it's fixed! Unfortunately the problems on Samsungs
(issue #24) appear to still be present, had hoped it was the same thing.
