Game was working fine, I noticed that the start menu looked a little funny- Then subsequent launches would just freeze the game. Maybe user error? I deleted the app data through steam, restarted my computer, and then tried again but the issue persists

Edit 2: When dying, the start menu with skill selection appears and the restart menu does not appear. Pressing start closes the skill selection menu and reveals the restart menu.
