Game crashes upon launch #153

I made a Github account just to post this. This report was also posted to the steam bug forum, but it seemed like you also wanted it here.

I have 150 hours in it, and if not for this glitch that makes me incapable of playing, I would have many more. I have uninstalled and re-installed Vagante multiple times, to no avail, as well as followed all the online advice and deleting individual files. I made no modifications to the game before the glitch appeared. A strange white bar appears in the bottom right of the screen, and it fills up like a loading bar. When the box is full, my game crashes.

According to this log, it seems your computer has two graphics devices, an integrated gfx chipset (intel), and an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 965M. However what seems to be an issue here is that your computer's drivers are choosing to load the game off your integrated chipset instead of your GPU: 20:40:25.015 INFO : OpenGL Renderer:"Intel(R) HD Graphics 530"

Vagante doesn't officially support integrated graphics cards, as is displayed on our store page under system requirements. You might need to configure your graphics drivers to specifically choose to load the game on your Nvidia card. You can find these settings via the Nvidia Control Panel by right clicking on your desktop. When the panel loads up, you will find a tab on the left side of the screen that says "3D Settings", and then a tab inside that called "Manage 3D Settings". Under the "Preferred graphics processor" setting, choose "High-performance NVIDIA processor", and finally hit "Apply" in the bottom right corner of this window. After all this, restart the game.

Please let me know if this fixes your issue!

I followed your instructions. It took noticeably longer to load this time, and I crashed at the end anyways.

Interesting. Yes, increased load time is expected I think since the travel time between your computer's main memory and the graphics card's memory takes longer.

Did the game prompt you to send a crash report? Or did it just close with no error messages or anything? Was there any change to the loading bar texture in the bottom right corner of the window? Also, do you have any overlays enabled? (things like steam overlay or Nvidia overlay?)

The crash is much the same as described earlier, except now the loading bar does not fully fill up. I am prompted to send a crash report, and have been for all previous crashes. Once, while unrepeatable, the loading bar turned cherry red. I would send a recording, but my recording software appears to have broken as well.
