Install process fails to install #74

Describe the issue

While attempting to do an initial install, I followed the normal installation instructions in Safari 11.0, but after clicking "Trust", the extension wasn't installed. (It didn't appear in the Extensions list, and the uBlock toolbar button didn't appear.)

I followed the Troubleshooting instructions (on same page above) with the same result: after selecting "Trust" (by pressing space), installation failed (with no error).

Steps for anyone to reproduce the issue

  1. Download uBlock release 1.14.14 onto a machine with Safari 11 installed.
  2. Double click Safari extension file.
  3. Click "Trust"
  4. Observe that dialog is dismissed, but there is no error and no installation.

Can anyone else reproduce this, or is it just me?

I can reproduce the issue. I’m also unable to install uBlock.

I've tried using Tab to select Trust button and Space bar to click it. It doesn’t work too.

Download https://github.com/el1t/uBlock-Safari/releases/download/1.14.14/uBlock0.safariextz open Safari and click on Safari in the menu bar and click "presences". Click the extensions tab, and drag the uBlock0.safariextz onto the far left extension list. choose trust and it should be installed correctly.

@Baccount It’s not working in my case. macOS High Sierra 10.13.1, Safari 11.0.1 (13604.3.5).

See if enabling Safari developer menu and "allowing unsigned extensions" fixes it.

j86989 commented 6 years ago

@Baccount I’ve just selected Show Develop menu in menu bar and clicked Allow Unsigned Extensions option. Unfortunately it hasn’t helped.

I also had that issue until I found out it way my safari stand that was at fault, if you have safari stand I would reccoment turning it off or uninstalling it (I used a backup of safari)

The only Safari extension I've used is uBlock.

I’ve just tried again and I've managed to install uBlock version 1.14.14 successfully \o/

I have Safari 11.0.3 running on my MacBook Pro with MacOS Sierra 10.12.6. uBlock Origin 1.14.24 is installed since longer time and running. Now I wanted to update to 1.15.4 but it does not work. I downloaded the extension and startet it but I only get an error message that Safari is not able to install this extension. I don't get a dialog where I can select trust. I have allowed unsigned extensions in developer menu. Any suggestions what I can do?
