Missing Letters #290

Open GoogleCodeExporter opened 8 years ago

GoogleCodeExporter commented 8 years ago
What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. paste a phrase in a form field at browser (firefox 32.0)
2. not all letters are pasted

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?

I expect the complete phrase, but some letters are missing. Not every time, but
very often. Not every time the same letters.
If I paste a phrase at an office program, all letters are shown. The problem
only appears at internet browsers.

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
I use Autokey 0.90.4 (Using KDE Development Platform 4.13.3) on Ubuntu 14.04.

I testet pasting a phrase at opera, but it shows only different letters
(hieroglyphs).

Same here with Ubuntu 14.04.1 and autokey 0.90.4-1

I have an phrase that starts "Best Regards,".

In some instances I will get "BeBest Regards, +expansion"

In other instances I will get "Best Regards, +expansion with one or two missing
characters"

Further to my previous feedback, I have noticed in gedit (3.10.4) I get
consistantly good expansion, I have tested something like 20 expansions without
fail.

Likewise in LibreOffice (4.2.6.3) or Google Chrome I do not seem to be able to
repeat the issue.

So it seems just Mozilla products such as Firefox (33) and Thunderbird (31.2) I
get the problem with 18 of 20 expansions.

Only just found https://code.google.com/p/autokey/wiki/Troubleshooting

Running "autokey-gtk -l" and then doing expands directly into firefox below:

BesBest Regards,
Carl
---
Carl HeatonPipe Ten Support Team

The log file is attached.

The phrase is "Best Regards,".

The correct format (excluding ===) is:

===
Best Regards,
Carl
---
Carl Heaton
Pipe Ten Support Team
===

Any ideas?

Also, if you choose a phrase from the autokey notification bar icon rather than
detecting the start of a phrase, it works perfectly / without problem.

Final update for today, trying the workaround listed in bug #288 did not help
my situation though it sounds near identical.
