alternative fix for ensuring batch mode ROOT #182

Hi Davide,

This seems to be the least intrusive fix I can come up with. It's a bit ugly and breaks the coding style being followed in supy/bin/supy, but it is less bothersome to me than alternatives. Ted will want to sign off on this fix too, but please check to see if it fixes your problem.

It works like a charm! and it's much better than my solution. If Ted agrees with this solution, we can merge fix-batch-alt and discard fix-batch. Thanks again for your help!
