This looks like a very nice item to knock off the todo list. I looked it over, and believe I have no strong opinions and am not currently using the feature, so I recommend Ted or Davide do the merge. I like the basic support for a few types of extraVars (calculables) which can be added to the skim tree.
Dropping of branches would also be an interesting feature. Perhaps you can comment if you have thought of technical issues with implementing it.
