backport to 1.x? #1

This really makes upgrading lucene easier and less error-prone. Should we backport the whole thing to 1.x? How much work is it? On the other hand I don't expect a ton more lucene 4.x releases, but we might have a couple. And I imagine the parent project provides other benefits we might want to take advantage of?

That is indeed my plan. Just need sometime to make sure everything is ok on master.

I created a branch 1.x and deployed to sonatype a 1.5.0-SNAPSHOT version. I'm going to update plugins projects with this as well.
