It's not on the roadmap for the Workplace Search SharePoint Server connector package, but I have filed an enhancement request for the planned connector client for Enterprise Search / Elasticsearch to support this in : https://github.com/elastic/connectors-python/issues/592

What is "planned connector client", I thought the connector in this repo was already based on the new Python-based framework.
