[ColorPalettes] Monochromatic palettes that start from "no color" #4974

Closed ghudgins closed 2 years ago

ghudgins commented 3 years ago

Description Monochromatic color palettes could start from a color stop that has "no color" to better emphasize values. This could be in the form of new color stops

Use case When I am using a monochromatic color palette to emphasize data values I need palette options that start from no color and gradually work the way to the darkest single color So I can highlight larger / smaller values with color while leaving the lowest 10% (or values of 0) without color

Today's palette colors the 0 values image

Proposed palettes could start with a fully transparent stop for "no color" image
