Some of the open dependencies for Input package:

  1. Custom Ingest Pipelines not working https://github.com/elastic/kibana/issues/145529
  2. System Tests not available https://github.com/elastic/package-spec/issues/361

Hi @ishleenk17,

Is there any plan to have sample events (in the documents) for the input packages being released? How will a new user learn the structure of documents to be ingested by the input packages?

We can have some sample events once system tests are completed. But since an input package will always be agnostic of what service the customer is using for that package, the sample events will vary accordingly. Hence, I am not sure if it would add much value there

In 8.7, the index gets created for the input package after this issue was resolved, but still we are unable to add the ingest pipeline and custom mappings. https://github.com/elastic/kibana/issues/153105 is tracking the issue.

Hi! We just realized that we haven't looked into this issue in a while. We're sorry! We're labeling this issue as Stale to make it hit our filters and make sure we get back to it as soon as possible. In the meantime, it'd be extremely helpful if you could take a look at it as well and confirm its relevance. A simple comment with a nice emoji will be enough :+1. Thank you for your contribution!
