Visual Builder timeline visualization keeps showing Key Panel #15294

Kibana version: 6.0 Elasticsearch version: 6.0 Server OS version: Linux Browser version: Google Chrome: 62.0.3202.94 - 64bit Browser OS version: Windows 7 version 6.1 (Build 7601: Service Pack 1) Original install method (e.g. download page, yum, from source, etc.):

Description of the problem including expected versus actual behavior: Save a dashboard with key panel collapsed in a VB timeline visualization. Reload the dashboard, key panel is displayed again.

Steps to reproduce: Legacy graphs remember the key collapse state at the dashboard level, so that you can configure the desired overall appearance, which is commonly hiding the key as it uses significant real estate, and often carries little value, sometime even only one color=count for example.

Visual Builder Time Series graphs "forget" the key collapse state and always show the key on refresh or loading of a shorturl shortcut to a dashboard view.

Errors in browser console (if relevant): clearpath1

Provide logs and/or server output (if relevant):

Describe the feature: The customer believes that if Key Panel is collapsed in VB when it is saved, that the next time it is visited via a Shorturl they Key Panel should remain collapsed.

By key do you mean the legend? The legend state is not stored in the dashboard at the moment (it never has been). I'm going to mark this as an enhancement instead of a bug.

simianhacker commented 6 years ago

The work around for this is to save the visualization with the legend collapsed (under panel options).

Thank you. Yes by key we are referring to the legend.
