Stack Monitoring: Interference between self monitoring data and Metricbeat/Elastic Agent #172435

Open Alphayeeeet opened 10 months ago

Kibana 8.11.1

Elasticsearch 8.11.1

Host Server RHEL 8

Current Chrome Version

Installed from download page

I activated self monitoring and then tried to migrate to elastic agent. After manually deactivating xpack.monitoring.elasticsearch.collection.enabled, I can see data collected by elastic agent (i.e. the distinct node roles), but the metrics on Elasticsearch-Overview are missing. Besides the missing metrics, if I enter setup mode, the system still wants me to migrate to Metricbeat, while I'm already running Elastic Agent and the official integrations for cluster monitoring.

Steps to reproduce:

  1. Install and setup cluster
  2. Active cluster self monitong
  3. Setup cluster monitoring using fleet
  4. Deactivate xpack.monitoring.elasticsearch.collection.enabled

Expected behavior: When entering setup mode, the system should track that Metricbeat using Elastic Agent is already in use. Also Metricbeat data should be shown in the Stack Monitoring UI
