[Synthetics] Failed and Skipped steps aren't always rendered #179352

Open daniadamatti opened 5 months ago

daniadamatti commented 5 months ago

Kibana version: 8.12.1

Elasticsearch version: 8.12.1

Server OS version: I don't actually know, We are using (https://www.elastic.co/pt/cloud/)

Browser version: Chrome version 123.0.6312.58 (official build) 64 bits

Browser OS version: Ubuntu 20

Original install method (e.g. download page, yum, from source, etc.): We are using (https://www.elastic.co/pt/cloud/)

Describe the bug:

We are facing an awkward behavior on some synthetics monitors page. Failed and skipped steps are not always shown in "Last test run" steps list (on Monitor page) or "Steps executed" list (on Test run details page). Since this issue was opened by a teammate we've made several updates and we are now executing synthetic tests on private locations, but we still see failed steps missing. The funny part is that we can see the screenshot of the failed step if we click on the last completed step image and click to see the next one. I also checked the logs on Discover and they seem to be fine as the information of failed and skipped steps are there. Any thoughts what can be happening?

Steps to reproduce:

Unfortunately I wasn't able to reproduce the error while running a reproducible test. I've created a synthetic test with 20 steps and made it fail in step 19 but (sadly) I was able to see failed and skipped steps in all executions.

Expected behavior:

We expect to always see failed and skipped steps.

Screenshots (if relevant):

Provide logs and/or server output (if relevant): I did not see any missing information on logs when failed and skipped steps are not rendered. image
