Broken Metadata Tab on Infrastructure Host Page #182914

Open achyutjhunjhunwala opened 1 week ago

achyutjhunjhunwala commented 1 week ago

Kibana version: 8,14

Elasticsearch version: 8,14

Server OS version:

Browser version: Chrome

Browser OS version: Version 124.0.6367.119 (Official Build) (arm64)

Original install method (e.g. download page, yum, from source, etc.): Elastic Stack on cloud.elastic.co

Describe the bug:

The Metadata Tab on the Infrastructure -> Host page is broken

Steps to reproduce:

I have a Lightsail instance which i enrolled in Fleet with a new policy to collect logs and metrics. After installing the agent, when i went to Infrastructure -> Hosts -> Metadata tab, the screen completely breaks.

Expected behavior:

The page should not break completely, as it also breaks navigation to other tabs.

Screenshots (if relevant):

Any additional context:

The error went away after around 20 mins, but what i could capture is, when the metadata is not available, this page broke.

From the logs i could see this error

[elastic_agent.metricbeat][warn] error fetching cluster name metadata: error fetching EC2 Tags: operation error EC2: DescribeTags, https response error StatusCode: 403, RequestID: 64e646c6-a30d-4cc6-b766-aebd4ae50592, api error UnauthorizedOperation: You are not authorized to perform this operation. User: arn:aws:sts::417751870558:assumed-role/AmazonLightsailInstanceRole/i-01b24d95b4f09d0e8 is not authorized to perform: ec2:DescribeTags because no identity-based policy allows the ec2:DescribeTags action.

Not sure if this is related, but after sometime, i can see the metadata available and hence the page was no more broken.
