[Response Ops][Alerting] Investigate: Cannot read properties of undefined (reading 'getUuid') #189592

The issue was "patched" with PR https://github.com/elastic/kibana/pull/189572, but we didn't have a definitive answer as to how that happened. See the PR reference in the original issue for a likely candidate that introduced the change.

The worry is there may be more sharp edges in there, so the module could probably use a thorough review, perhaps some additional tests.
