Maps does not render diacritics anymore #58325

Kibana version: 7.6.0

Original install method (e.g. download page, yum, from source, etc.): Tested on cloud

Describe the bug:

Roadmap does not render anymore diacritics. In the following example,

Vaural should be Vauréal
ragny-sur-Oise should be Éragny-sur-Oise (Capital é)
CIT ESCALE should be CITÉ ESCALE (Capital é)

Steps to reproduce:

Open Maps
Zoom to 49.03602,2.0862 with zoom level 12

Thanks @dadoonet for reporting. I can confirm the issue, tested in https://maps.elastic.co landing page and Kibana Coordinate maps visualization to check both vector and raster tiles. For example this tile is not rendering Llíria, València or La Vall d'Uixó labels properly.

@nyurik this is likely related to the new tiles release

This is currently being worked on. Will update status when more details are available.

Tiles with the correct spelling are being rolled out. It will take a while as network caches clear, so it might not show up right away.

I probably need to wait a bit for the cache but I just noticed a weird behavior. Depending on the zoom level, text might correctly rendered or not.

yes, the zoom-level discrepancy is expected. it should resolve after a while at all levels of detail.
