Render vignettes, formatting #59

Hi @elbamos

Not the most helpful PR, but as I was checking the branch feature/backoncran, I noticed the formatting of the R Markdown files were a bit off. I also rendered these as markdown files for users to see via github.

I removed one line in the README about R-3.4 being new---it looks like that was in 2017, and we're on R-4.02 now.

Let me know where things stand with feature/backoncran.

Update: I noticed now some of the LaTeX equations didn't render properly. This is always a bit of a pain...
