Awstats is a Statistics solution and not an analytics solution
AWStats describes itself as a "real-time logfile analyzer". Doesn't one use an "analyzer" to produce "analytics"? 😃
Of course, I'm not a fan of the buzzword "analytics", but it has become the de-facto terminology for anything that counts hits, etc. For example, AWStats is categorized and listed as "web analytics software" on Wikipedia. The reason to add the "web-analytics" topic is to make it easier for people to find AWStats (make it "more discoverable" in buzzword speak).
I understand that but was just making the point. What Wikipedia says must always be open to suspicion.
The topics listed for the AWStats Github repo don't include "web-analytics", which is commonly used by similar repositories:
