Redesign address bar and tool bar #208

What new or enhanced feature are you proposing?
I am a user, not a developer of gmapcatcher. It is a very useful application
and I can see many people using it as a digital zoomable map on a laptop in
their car.

I started using gmapcatcher on my 11" laptop with 1366 x 768 screen. This is a
typical screen aspect ratio you get these days on a small laptop. It is good
for watching movies, not so good for anything else.

The 'Query' box at the top of the main window is somewhat wasteful with screen
space. It takes 20% of the vertical dimension of the screen. The result is too
much vertical scrolling when viewing maps.

Would it be possible to redesign the top to make it slimmer. The 'Enter
location here' box could be cut in half and the other tools (buttons) could be
next to it on the same line.
Or, even better, make the address/tool bars floating and adjustable, so
individual users can put them where it suits them best.

What goal would this enhancement help you achieve?
It would provide more vertical space for the map, hence less scrolling, and
better satisfaction with the application.

What about completely hiding the "buttons"?
Try pressing F11 or F12, see if that makes the map any better...

Thanks very much, pressing F11 and F12 gets rid of everything except the map.

Excellent. Please close this issue, I don't know how.
