Add charging country to car with batteryElectric Engine Type #423

Carbon emissions of an electric car can vary drastically depending on the source of the electricity used. (Examples of the variation are easily visible using this.) Therefore, it would be very interesting to include the country where the car is charged.

Before I start working on it, there are a couple of points I would like to clarify:

1. Double counting

If the car is charged at home, the emissions would already be considered with the "Electricity" activity and would be double-counting.

My first idea was to just add a comment/note warning that if the car is charged at home, there is no need to include this activity. Any thoughts on this?

2. Adapting the user interface

In order to integrate this feature, the user interface will also have to be adapted by adding an additional option "country"/"electricity mix" or something like that.

electric-car-country

If I understood correctly, this part of the modification is not open sourced and it would be additional work-load for Tomorrow.

Would that be compatible with your priorities?

Hi @J0ANMM. Thanks so much for the idea and spending the time to flesh it out. Unfortunately we don't have the resources to make changes to the user interface at the moment. We're refocusing our efforts to build a similar solution for businesses → https://bloomclimate.com/

Hi @sorensvejstrup,

I understand. Let me know when you have some time to make changes to the user interface and maybe I can work on it then. Good luck with the business solution! ;)

Thanks a lot, @J0ANMM :-)

Unfortunately, we're not going to have time to work on North in the near future, so I'll also close this one for now.
