I had a look at the data and it seems like the coal capacity published by the EIA has been 1311.3 MW since 2020. It seems that 700 MW of coal capacity was retired/converted between 2015 and 2017.

Looking at this article from the EIA on coal-to-gas conversion, it seems that at least two generating units in Colorado switched from coal to gas and the data is still published in the EIA as coal.

We will make a note of this and try to contact the EIA for more information :)
