Open skyerjoe opened 3 years ago

skyerjoe commented 3 years ago

Steps to reproduce

  1. Where are you starting? What can you see? F-Droid -> Element --> Upgrade --> install upgrade
  2. What do you click?
  3. More steps…

What happened?

What did you expect?

Clean upgrade from Element.

What happened?

  1. Flashing screen several times
  2. Looping upgrade process from element and several messages for failing to upgrade.
  3. Parsing error message from f-droid
  4. Wasted files still remain on system ( approx. 1,5 gb)

I tried to sweep the System with sdmaid but the orphained files hasnt been removed.

@skyerjoe maybe your device is out of storage capacity to perform any application upgrade? @Bubu any idea / other feedback with the same issue?

This should be strictly an fdroid client issue and not something to do with element. I recommend reporting this at https://gitlab.com/fdroid/fdroidclient instead.

(Yes it somewhat sounds related to storage capacity problems which would happen with element instead of other apps, as its significantly larger. But without additional information I can't really tell what exactly is going on.)

As a workaround you can clear all data of the fdroid client to clear up space (this will delete custom repos and settings, beware) and then download the element apk file from the fdroid website: https://f-droid.org/repo/im.vector.app_40102020.apk
