macOS - Bright sidebar on HDR screen #1784

Steps to reproduce

  1. Open Element Desktop on an HDR capable screen, i.e. built-in Display of M1 MacBook Pro 14"
  2. Login

Outcome

What did you expect?

The left sidebar utilizes the screen's HDR capabilities and lights up in a bright white color, which is distracting. This issue occurs in both the light and dark mode settings.

What happened instead?

The left sidebar utilizes HDR and lights up in a bright white color. This does not happen on non-HDR screens or in the web version of Element.

macOS 14.5

Screenshot looks exactly as I see it on my MBP M1 Pro 16

Cannot reproduce this, an image would help.

Hi, thanks for your quick reply, and sorry for my late response. The issue wasn't visible on a screenshot, so I had to resort to taking a picture with my iPhone. You can see a certain "white glow" in the area marked yellow.

I could resolve the issue by uploading a non-HDR profile picture. Thus, the issue likely stems from a HDR profile picture.
