This is a decent example of why the web's linking model is so powerful and desktop apps are not great, in my opinion.
To implement this, the desktop app would effectively have to become a browser itself, but you already have one of those...
For those who are looking for workaround to get this functionality in web client. I use firefox with separate profile for element chat (also for gmail etc.) and that is how I gain separate icon for element chat with separate notifications and other settings. To acheive that You have to create firefox profile and name it "element", create a shortcut icon on desktop (which run "C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\firefox.exe" -no-remote -P "element". In Element every room/chat has different URL so You can group Your chat into windows, tabs etc. I am also investigating how to set up a custom taskbar icon for element-firefox profile.
For those who can't live without this feature, just note that it works in Nheko. However I would prefer to have it in element-destkop app .. just a simple window for particular room.
Sometimes I want to look at two rooms simultaneously - this is easy with a web session (I can open a second tab) but is unsupported on Desktop.
Ideally I wouldn't have to have an active Desktop session and an active web session to achieve this on my machine.
